FAQ
Where do I park and enter the building?
Plenty of parking is available on both the east and south sides of the building and first time visitors are invited to park in specially designated spots on both sides of the building. Come in any door; worship services are held on the north side of the building in the large octangular room behind the big glass doors.
What should I wear?
We invite you to dress, as you feel comfortable. You will observe suits and ties, and casual dress clothes at our traditional services, and jeans, shorts, and casual dress clothes at our contemporary service.
Where do I take my children?
Children are always welcome in our worship services and we also provide childcare for infants and toddlers at all three worship times on the first floor of the building. Pre-school and elementary age Sunday School classes are offered during the 8:45 and 10:15 worship services and are located on the first and second floors of the building. Greeters at the doors or at the Welcome Center will be happy to help you locate the appropriate room for your child/children. See childcare for further information.
What time should I arrive?
Our worship times on Sundays: 8:45am, 10:15am, and 11:30am. If you have children you will want to allow 15-20 minutes to get them settled in their rooms before you head for the worship center. You will be asked to sign your children in and out with our childcare workers and teachers in accordance with our Safe Sanctuary Policies. Adult classes are also offered during the 8:45, 10:15 and 11:30 worship services. See Adult Learning Opportunities for a list of our classes and their location. If you are planning on attending our contemporary service at 10:15am you may want to come a little early since we are growing.
How long are the worship services?
Each worship service lasts approximately 60 minutes.
What is expected of members?
Linworth UMC expects the following of its members:
- Regular participation in worship and study to continue to grow your faith.
- Praying for each other and the world we live in.
- Serve God in a ministry or outreach event using your God given spiritual gifts and passions.
- To give in proportion to your income.
Will I need to give money during the offering?
Although we do take an offering during each service, guests should never feel that we expect them to give. Our worship service is our gift to you as a first time guest so just pass the plate or basket on by and enjoy the service.
Do I need to be a member to participate?
No, although we encourage membership and commitment to Christ’s church. All members and regular attendees are encouraged to participate in at least one of the many ministries and service opportunities offered at Linworth.
How do I join Linworth?
New Member classes are offered quarterly. The first step is to let Brian Gath, Pastor of Membership Care and Small Groups, or another pastor or staff person know you are interested. Brian will contact you when the next class is scheduled. During the new member classes you will get to know about the church, meet our pastors and staff, begin the process of learning your spiritual gifts and where you might serve.
