2018 Trunk or Treat – Sunday October 28th!

Linworth is happy to announce that Trunk or Treat is back! We welcome all children and families from around the northwest Columbus area to come to Linworth UMC on Sunday October 28th from 3:30-5:00pm, for this safe and fun alternative to Trick or Treat. We’ll have lots of cars and trunks decorated to their Halloween best, and plenty of treats to hand out. Best of all, it’s a great time to celebrate community and fellowship. Each year Linworth holds two garage sales that see people from all around our community come to the church to benefit important Linworth missions.

2018 Fall Dates:

Friday, October 19th: 9 AM – 7 PM
Saturday, October 20th: 9 AM  – 1 PM

* Tent opens at 8:30 AM on both days

The Mission of the LUMC Garage Sale is to:

  • Raise money for the LUMC Youth Programming and Mission Projects
  • Provide gently used affordable items to people in the community who need them
  • Contribute items to charities (e.g. , New Life UMC, Salvation Army, Kidney Foundation…)
  • Create a sense of community

We ask that any items you donate to the garage sale be clean and in working order. We will have recycling bins available for electronics that do not work and for cardboard.

Monetary and Food Donations: We serve lunch and dinner all week for volunteers and contributions of gift cards are greatly appreciated. In addition, we need cans or two liter bottles of soda, and bottled water. Other money to defray the expenses (e.g., the cost of the tent, dumpster, etc.) is also appreciated.

VBS 2018 – Shipwrecked!

Vacation Bible School 2018 – Shipwrecked, Rescued by Jesus

Monday July 16th – Friday July 20th

Preschool session– 9-11:30am (ages 3–5 years old and must be potty trained).

Elementary session– 1-4pm (Kindergarten completed-5th grade).

Every summer hundreds of kids from our church and community descend upon Linworth for an awesome week of fun, games, music, and learning about Jesus. This year’s VBS – Shipwrecked, Rescued by Jesus- promises to be another unforgettable adventure as well!

If you would like to help and join in the fun there are many volunteer opportunities available including set up, sorting, organizng, pricing, repairing, moving furniture, measuring, sizing, greeting and orienting volunteers, helping with food preparation and serving, cashiering, assisting customers, and cleaning up.

Register for the 2018 Winter Youth Lock In!

REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED.

It’s time for the Youth Winter Lock-In! If you are ready to stay up all night, have some great food, great fellowship, and great games then sign up and bring your friends. The lock-in is February 16-17 at the Worthington Community Center from 10pm until 7am. Registration will be available soon on the Youth page of the Linworth web site. Cost is $20 per student and includes all activities, food, and a t-shirt!

Linworth United Methodist Church is proud to partner with King Avenue United Methodist Church for this event, which is open to youth of all denominations.

  • Cost: $20
  • What: A night of swimming, movies, volleyball, dodgeball, basketball, food, friends, and staying up way too late.
  • When: Feb. 16th-17th, 10pm-6:45am @ Worthington Community Center located at 345 E. Wilson-Bridge Rd., Worthington, Ohio 43085. Pick-up and Drop off here.
  • What to Bring:
    -Pillow & Sleeping bag (people who sleep or want to be cozy)
    -Toothbrush (you will thank me at 5:30am after four straight hours of snacks)
    -swim suit and towel (keep it appropriate please)
    -Change of clothes if you feel so inclined
    -Deodorant (Ball games get pretty heated…just sayin)
    -Any PG movies that are excellent (or extremely corny and thus hilarious)
    -Cards or board games
    -Lots and lots of friends!
    -Any meds you may need (clearly labeled)
  • What Not to Bring: Drugs, alcohol, weapons, Debbie Downers.

Inclement Weather Policy

In the case of a level one snow emergency, please be sure to check with your leader to see if your group is still meeting. If the church office is notified of any canceled meetings, we will post them here on the website, linworthumc.org. All activities will be canceled if we are at a level two or level three snow emergency for Franklin County. Remember, if you requested childcare for your group and you cancel the meeting, please let Alisha Artis know at aartis@linworthumc.org.

This service will be a blend of contemporary and traditional worship, and will allow us all to join in prayer, worship, and fellowship, as we hope for a productive New Year.
