Beloved in Christ,

This proposal was released today

If you are like me, you want to be as informed as possible. I especially want to be informed when it comes to things that impact me. So I was as shocked as many of you were, over news breaking today that has implications on our life as United Methodists in the year 2020 (and beyond). Many of you have emailed, texted, or communicated your own surprise and questions to me.

I urge you to remember that it is just what it states: a proposal. While many secular news agencies seem to imply that this is a done deal, it is not. There are still many hurdles for our denomination in our journey to live into God’s call upon our life, and today’s news is an additional option to consider.

As always, your pastors are willing to answer any questions you may have, and as your Senior Pastor (who is also a delegate to the 2020 General Conference), I pledge that you will be as informed as you would like to be. The ” Protocol of Reconciliation & Grace Through Separation ” that was released today was a surprise to me, having only heard rumblings of potential breaking news last night.

As with every piece of news you consume, you should consider the source by which the news reaches you. This is precisely why I have linked the UMNews piece and not the secular media pieces (though you are welcome to find those, too).

I trust that you have been and will continue to hold our denomination and Linworth’s place within it, in prayer. My prayers will fervently join yours.

I would also like to take this opportunity to remind you again of the strategic planning session that will be held tomorrow morning from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. We will, undoubtedly, re-purpose a bit of time for discussion over the state of our denomination. I’ll gladly answer any questions I can then.

In Love & Sincerity,

Pastor Anna
