Music & Arts
Music & Art at Linworth UMC
We believe that music and the arts have the power to inspire, uplift, and connect us with each other and with the divine. We value and celebrate the diverse range of musical and artistic expressions that enrich our worship services and enhance our spiritual lives. From traditional hymns to contemporary praise songs, from liturgical dance to visual arts, we believe that each form of artistic expression has its own unique way of expressing the beauty and wonder of God’s love.
We are committed to fostering a creative and collaborative environment where artists of all kinds can use their gifts and talents to serve and enrich our community. Whether you are an experienced musician or artist or just starting to explore your creative side, we invite you to join us and share your gifts with our community.
Music & Arts Teams
Chancel Choir – The Linworth Chancel Choir sings weekly at the 9:00am Traditional Service from September through May. Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings at 7pm in the Worship Center. The Chancel Choir is always interested in adding members! There is childcare available upon request.
Handbell Ensemble – The Linworth Handbell Ensemble rehearses at 6:15pm on Thursday in the Worship Center and performs at both services about once a month. There is a flexible rehearsal option so many ringers can be involved throughout the year, as their schedule permits. The Ensemble is always excited about adding members to the group, which includes people of all ages.
Worship Band/Team – This group leads worship for the 10:30 Contemporary Service and is comprised of musicians of all abilities.
Children’s Choir – The Linworth Children’s Choir is a fun and exciting ways for kids to learn to love music and share that music in church. Rehearsals are September through May at 11:30 on Sunday mornings.
Preschool Music – During Sunday school, preschoolers have a weekly music time where they learn songs that reinforce Biblical lessons while also developing basic music skills. Music time happens during Sunday school classes from September through May.
Kids’ Drama – The Children’s Choir performs a Christmas musical every December and a spring drama.
Instrumental Ministry—If you are an instrumentalist, Linworth has a place for you. Many times through the year our musicians will play special music in worship, as well as join with choirs for joint projects. Contact our Traditional Music Director to share your talents with us.
Media Team – The audio/visual team supports our worship services in a variety of ways. If you have a gift for buttons and switches, we are always looking for help.
